Economic Update Luncheon

The North Arkansas College Foundation Economic Update Luncheon Series is sponsored by The Point Financial Group and features speakers in the areas of cybersecurity, economic research, real estate and more. The series is designed to give attendees a glimpse into economic challenges locally, at the state level and nationally.


The economics of agriculture will be the topic of the 2025 Economic Update Luncheon presented by The Point Financial and the North Arkansas College Foundation. The luncheon will be held Tuesday, January 21, in the John Paul Hammerschmidt Conference Center on ag娱乐官网’s South Campus. 

John D. Anderson, the director of the Cooperative Extension for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture will be the speaker. As Director, Mr. Anderson oversees the extension land-grant outreach mission across all 75 counties. A native of Timbo, AR, his background in agriculture, economics and policy has led him to work as an agriculture economist in both academic and industry positions. He will share valuable insights into the economics of agriculture with attendees.

Lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m. with the program beginning at Noon. Lunch will include a pulled pork sandwich, baked beans and coleslaw and a drink. Prior to this appointment, he served for four years as Professor and Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness at the University of Arkansas and Director of the Fryar Price Risk Management Center of Excellence. From 2016 through 2019, he served as Chair of the Division of Business, Applied, and Technical Sciences and General Farm Manager at College of the Ozarks in Pt. Lookout, Missouri (his undergraduate alma mater). His career has included appointments with American Farm Bureau Federation, Mississippi State University, and the University of Kentucky. His academic work has focused on commodity marketing, risk management, and agricultural policy.
